MALALA YOUSAFZAI
Malala Yousafzai was born in 1997 in Pakistan. Her father was a teacher, and that spawned her love of education. When she was just 11 years old, the Taliban put strict regulations in place, not allowing her to go to school, so she fought back by blogging anonymously for the BBC about her life and eventually began speaking out publicly against the ban on education for girls. Malala was shot in the head by the Taliban at 15 years old but has continued fighting for young women’s right to an education. In 2014, she established the Malala Fund to advocate for women and girls.
