ARETHA FRANKLIN
Aretha Franklin was born in Tennessee in 1942. At the age of 18, her first single reached #10 on BillBoard charts, which led to her and Otis Redding creating the song “Respect.” “Respect” and numerous other songs by Aretha Franklin were used to send a message of equality, peace, and justice. Aretha was in show business for more than 50 years and died of cancer in 2018.
