The Napa Valley Film Festival returns (Hotel Indigo)

Cinema and wine have a lot in common. Both are embraced the world over. Both can be enjoyed by everyone, but offer finer strains and variations that only the true connoisseur can appreciate – and the very best of both can be found in Napa Valley.

NAPA VALLEY FILM FESTIVAL

The Napa Valley Film Festival returns for its ninth year! Combining the best of world cinema with the gorgeous vineyards of the Napa Valley, NVFF is one of the world’s most exciting film festival events, not least of all because any festival parties and celebrations feature the incredible wines of the Napa Valley. NVFF has an intimate feeling, allowing you to meet many of the featured filmmakers at festival soirees. If you love world cinema, Napa Valley is the place to be from November 13-17!

Here are some films we’re excited to see:

A Taste of Sky: A documentary film in the tradition of Jiro Dreams of Sushi and Chef’s TableA Taste of Sky tells the story of Gustu, the groundbreaking cooking school and fine-dining restaurant in Bolivia founded by NOMA’s Claus Meyer. It follows why this decorated chef moved to this small Latin country and the incredible food that has resulted from his journey. Featuring truly mouth-watering cinematography, this is sure to be an inspiring cinematic experience.

A Cohort of Guests: A drama about the tensions that divide us, this feature from director Todd Sandler tells the story of a friends’ dinner party that is interrupted by an uninvited guest. Maybe best described as a “social thriller,” this indie potboiler captures this moment in current-day America beautifully.

Funke: Another food documentary (this may be the uniting thread of the year), Funke follows Evan Funke, an acclaimed chef who controversially walked away from the limelight years ago as he tries to open a new restaurant that redefines the art of handmade pasta.
