Nancy Pelosi was born in 1940 in Maryland. Pelosi first made the leap into politics as a Democratic Party volunteer. From there, she became a member of the House of Representatives. In the 2006 midterm elections, Pelosi became the first woman to take the position of speaker of the House. She is an advocate for women’s economic agenda, the environment, and many other vital issues.
