What I Binge: Lucifer’s Kevin Alejandro tells us what TV shows are getting him through coronavirus self-isolation (Metro UK)
Welcome to What I Binge – our new daily series delving into the viewing habits of our favourite stars to get tips on what to watch next, as we handle coronavirus self-isolation together.
After kicking off with RuPaul’s Drag Race star Ross Mathews, today we have Lucifer’s Detective Douche, sorry, Dan, himself – Kevin Alejandro.
As season five of the much-loved devillish Netflix series is put on hold to prevent coronavirus spread, Kevin and his wife, Leslie, have launched two micro-films via his YouTube Channel, to keep fans entertained.
But there’s always time for a quick TV show or two to take their mind off things, right?
Speaking to Metro.co.uk, he wanted fans to know: ‘Stay indoors. There is a light at the end of this tunnel.’
Here’s what the star is recommending you watch next.
What are you binge watching right now?
The circumstances are terrible, but this has been a great opportunity to catch up on what’s out there right now. Currently my family and I are watching The Outsider on HBO, Gentefied, YOU and I’m Not Okay With This (all on Netflix). Plus we’re trying to watch every movie we can.
What show do you find yourself always going back to?
Honestly, every night, we turn on a movie to fall asleep to. Something that doesn’t require a lot of thought, but entertaining and inspiring enough. Aside from that, we have watched the entire season of Haunting of Hill House four times, and it never disappoints.
What was the last show you sat and binge watched in one sitting?
The last show I binge watched in one sitting was The End of the F***ing World. I love the tone, the acting, the themes, and story; such a great piece.
What was the last show to make you cry laughing?
Hands down, Schitt’s Creek. Right from season one, episode one, it had me on the floor.
What was the last show to make you cry?
The Act on Hulu (STARZPlay in the UK), had so many moments that made me cry; especially, episode two: Teeth. Being a father, I could not imagine anyone doing that to their child.
Do you have a show you didn’t expect to fall in love with?
I did not expect to love Daredevil on Netflix, but it surprised me with being a well-shot show.
What do you think more people should be watching right now?
If you want to go there, and by “there” I mean deep into the psyche of American celebrity, racism, police relations, and violence, then there’s nothing like OJ: Made in America.
Everything you thought you knew about this case comes crashing down and you realize that you can’t take anything at face value.
Retrospect is everything. If you haven’t seen it yet, NOW is the time.
BUT, if you don’t want to go there and just want to laugh, cry, and yet still feel like an intelligent human being, then Better Things is where it’s at. Pamela Adlon is an acting, writing, directing, producing genius and deserves all the accolades and more.
What show have you been meaning to binge watch, but haven’t got round to yet?
Everyone keeps talking about the “brilliant” ending of BoJack Horseman, but I’m still on Season 1 – Episode 3. Don’t judge me.
What was the best binge-watch tip someone gave you?
My genius writer/friend Cat from NY said that my life wouldn’t be complete without Brooklyn 99. And she was right.
Life is so much better with Gina (please come back!), Captain Holt, Detective Diaz, and, of course, Peralta.
Lucifer seasons 1-3 are on Amazon Prime Video, and season 4 is on Netflix.
