Bedtime Story Director's Statement
Bedtime Story came about to challenge myself to produce and direct something at a higher level of production before I tackled the responsibility of directing my first episode of Lucifer, a network television show. The story is an anecdote about point-blank honesty in a world where illusion, delusion and dishonesty are the norm. One of the things that drew me to the story is how it focuses on misplaced optimism, ageism, unrealistic dreams and unfulfilled ambition. These are familiar emotional struggles many artists experience, but told with the unique voice of actually getting what you want but not in the way you expected.
We all have our idea of what success means to us. This was my opportunity to explore my own ideas of what success means to me.
It was an extraordinary experience - one I am very proud of. Without the hard work and imagination of our entire team of players, it could never have happened.
